As recruiters we often have candidates come to us wanting a career change. While we are happy to speak with them and attempt to steer them in the right direction, this is not the way we make our living!
Our days (and some of our nights!) are spent searching for that ideal future employee for our clients usually after they have attempted all reasonable means of finding that individual on their own (internal recruiting, advertising, job boards etc.). They are not interested in spending time talking to someone that “thinks” they can handle the job.
Confidence in your own abilities is so important and we always admire those that have a can-do attitude, but you must really understand the entire job function before you present yourself for a potential position. Likewise; a recruiter must take special care in matching professionals to positions.
